Angry racist booted from eatery: ‘I pay for their welfare!’

I’m not adding him to the asshole hall of fame because that’s (currently) reserved for people who have a bit more renown in the world — think high-ranking government officers, business people, elected officials — not jackass attorneys who like their salads with a side of racism and xenophobia.

However, seeing as this is a website devoted to people who don’t want to be jerks, I thought I’d send him a little note, in case he ever pulls his head out of his ass long enough to read a website.

(Because he seems to anger quickly and without provocation, I’ll keep this brief and to the point.)

YOU DON’T GET TO DICTATE WHAT LANGUAGE OTHER PEOPLE SPEAK.

In the US, there is no official language, and in most major cities the government will make information available in multiple languages.

And there’s nothing wrong with that.

To repeat: there’s nothing wrong with someone speaking a language other than English at work. It’s none of your business, and it affects you in exactly zero ways.

It’s also extraordinarily racist (and a sign that you’re probably a shitty human being) to threaten to call ICE on anyone speaking Spanish. People who speak Spanish — or who are Black — are allowed to exist in public spaces without being harassed by white assholes like you, dude. If you don’t like it, learn to make your own fucking salad.
